Nestled in a small Franconian village in Germany, surrounded by rolling hills and clean energy windmills is where you will find the factory that produces FINETEC pearlescent paints. Draw.TEC is the parent company and owner of the brand “FINETEC”, that is known the world over for quality and consistency. Draw.TEC is part of a rich tradition of German family owned companies that produce the world’s best art supplies.
QUALITY & PRODUCT SAFETY
The collection of FINETEC brand paints are manufactured with selected raw materials of the highest quality. The basis of this new generation of FINETEC pearlescent colors is formed by purified gum Arabic and high quality, pearlescent pigments. The special manufacturing process gives each color cake its own unique surface. All raw materials used are considered non-toxic and meet the American requirements according to ASTM D-4236.Great attention is paid to 100% quality control, during both manufacturing and assembly. When developing these paints, three things are considered, the customers needs, the quality of the product and consistency.
SUSTAINABILITY & PRINCIPALS
The raw materials and mica pigments used in the paints are all ethically sourced. All color products are manufactured exclusively with solar power. The solar modules actually generate more environmentally green electricity than is consumed.
Watercolors are amazing, I think we can all agree. But you know what’s even better? Watercolours that shine. I can’t get enough of watercolour paints that Shimmer and shine — whether it’s pearlescent or metallic paints. If I had my way, I’d slap some golden accents on every piece of paper I could reach. There are plenty of metallic and pearlescent watercolours on the market, but something about the Finetec watercolours stands out. Let’s explore why that might be in this Finetec watercolour review.
There are several sets of Finetec watercolours, but today I’m only reviewing the gold palette with six colors. You can find this set Here on Art Attack, but we also carry a few other palettes as well. In fact, there are so many different palettes that it’s nearly impossible to choose a favourite! Here are a few other Finetec palettes that might make you drool:
Pearlescent paint is reflective, but only reflects back some of the light that hits it, allowing you to see the colour of the pigments as well as reflected light. The pigment particles are transparent and as light is reflected between their tiny layers, they emit different coloured light that “sparkles”. A little like how a cut glass prism can create rainbows, but picture thousands of microscopic prisms packed in together with minuscule spaces between them. Once dry, it produces a diffused, textured glow that is reflective without being overpowering.
HOW TO APPLY FINETEC WATERCOLORS
You might wonder if you need anything special to use such special paints, but the answer is no! You can use whatever paintbrush you prefer and it will do the job nicely. I tend to use Pentel Aquash Water Brush Pens while painting with my Finetecs, and you can see me using them in this review. Head to this post if you want to see what other watercolour supplies I use and recommend!
